> Thomas Wesley Barnes, 59, passed away unexpectedly in Dallas, TX on

> Wednesday morning, September 19, 2007. Born on August 27, 1948 in

> Durham. He was the son of Lida Cable Barnes and the late Robert B.

> Barnes. He was a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill and served honorably in

> the U.S. Army. Tom was Vice-President of Marketing for the Carolina

> Canners, an affiliate of Carolina Pepsi Bottlers. He enjoyed spending

> time with his family, golfing, and traveling. He was an avid Tar Heels

> fan and a member of Edenton Street United Methodist Church.

> Including his mother, Tom is survived by his wife of 37 years, Linda

> Barlow Barnes; daughter, Jennifer Barnes Snyder and husband, Kevin of

> Charlotte; sister, Patricia Barnes Smith and husband, Robert of

> Marion; his aunt, Elizabeth Nowaski of Durham; his extended family,

> including two sisters-in-law, three cousins and several nieces and

> nephews; by his dogs: "Newton" and "Maggie". Tom is also survived by

> all of his colleagues at Pepsi, whom he certainly considered family.

> Family will receive friends 6:00- 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at

> Mitchell Funeral Home (7209 Glenwood Avenue).

> Funeral service, officiated by Dr. William Weisser, will be held 2:00

> p.m. Sunday, September 23, 2007 at Edenton Street United Methodist

> Church, with interment to follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.

> Flowers are accepted; however, memorials may be made to the American

> Heart Association - 3131 RDU Center Drive Suite 100 - Morrisville, NC

> 27560.

> Arrangements with Mitchell Funeral Home at Raleigh Memorial Park.

Another guy I grew up with - am so sorry to hear of his passing.
