Peggy Dysart, 68, of Holly Ridge, died Thursday evening, January 12, 2017.

A memorial service will be held at Emma Anderson Memorial Chapel (Topsail Beach, NC) at 1:00pm on Sunday, February 5th.

Peggy was the daughter of Roger Harvey Debnam and Mary Moseley Debnam Young. She was a 1966 graduate of Needham Broughton High School and a 1970 graduate of East Carolina University. After graduation she began her life-long career as a teacher.

Peggy is survived by her sons; James Gibson Rabb Dysart, Christian Emerson Dysart and wife, Geri, and grandchildren Erin, Derek, and Audrey, all of Raleigh; her twin sister Mary Debnam Bartholomew and husband, Larry, of Surf City; her brother, Roger Harvey Debnam, Jr. and wife, Dreda of Charlotte; many nieces and nephews; and long-time partner Kenneth C. Watkins, his daughter, Ashley Barbour Watkins; and children, Anthony and Fisher of Holly Ridge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Eugene Dysart, Jr.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Emma Anderson Memorial Chapel or to the Hampstead Branch Public Library.

Mary, sorry for your loss; Peggy was truly a wonderful person...open-hearted, kind and generous to a fault...she would do anything for anybody and that with a smile.  Never has "rest in peace" had more meaning.

Peggy was one of the most positive people I think I have every known.  I loved her smile.  I know this must be a terrible loss to her family.   My heart goes out to you Mary.
