Frances Ann Johnston died Sunday, June 10, 2012. She was survived by her parents, Bob and Martha Johnston, son, Ashley, brothers Dan and David, and husband Bruce Smith.
YOUNGSVILLE - Frances Ann Johnston died Sunday, June 10, 2012 at home. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at First Church of Christ, Scientist, Raleigh. There is no visitation. Flowers are welcome, and are part of her final request.
Surviving: parents, Bob and Martha Johnston of Wake Forest; son, Ashley Pace (Kimberly) of Indian Trail; brother, Dan Johnston (Teresa) of Apex, and David Johnston, currently stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.; husband, Bruce Smith of Youngsville; and three grandchildren.
Fran was such a fun person. She was intelligent and had great humor too. We had so much fun as the Indians our senior year in Annie Get Your Gun. We had reconnected a few years before she died. I miss her. God took a beautiful soul from earth and placed her with him in heaven. Miss You Franny!!
Fran -- such a warm, wonderful person! I don't think I realized at the time (being more of a brooding poet-type) what a positive influence she had on me. There are certain people who touch you dearly, and she is one of them.
Fran and I lived next door to each other on Bellevue Rd from age 5 or so til 9. Then later her family followed us to Laurel Hills, where we were in biking distance. We have a picture of me, her and Caroline Green on our first day of school. Our parents were close friends, and we both treasured our memories of those early years. I was in her wedding and she in mine. I am so thankful we later reconnected on facebook. . She like to write poetry, loved horses, and especially loved Christmas! She had a great personality and loved life. The celebration of her life was a beautiful service ., full of humor as she was. Her mother is still living in Raleigh., as well as her brother Dan. We miss you Fran! .., . . . .
The record as reported here regarding Fran's next of kin is inaccurate: Fran had only one sibling, her brother Dan; David, erroneously also listed as her brother, is in fact her nephew (Dan's and Teresa's son). As "Cousin Franny's" first cousin, I certify the above relationship description.
Perhaps the miscommunication is based upon poor copy editing, grammar and/or punctuation; not everyone has been so fortunate as to have experienced the two "Grand Lady P's" as were many of our classmates.
