Want to share what you've been up to since you graduated?

A Columbia, SC native and graduate of East Carolina University in Greenville, NC, I am officially "retired"; but I am also a Raleigh, NC-based freelance writer, editor, and critic. I have written theater, film, book, and music previews and reviews for The News & Observer, The Raleigh Times, Spectator Magazine, and CVNC (Classical Voice of North Carolina), all based in Raleigh.

Since April 2001, I have served as editor and publisher of Triangle Review (https://trianglereview.org/), a FREE weekly e-mail performing-arts newsletter that covers theater and some dance and music in the Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, and Carrboro area of North Carolina. Triangle Review is the latest-and-greatest version of my original newsletter, which was called Robert's Reviews. (To start your FREE subscription, e-mail robertm748@aol.com and type SUBSCRIBE-TR in the Subject: line.)

I also co-edited and supervised the production of "Jim Valvano's Guide to Great Eating" (JTV Enterprises, 1984), a 224-page sports celebrity cookbook; and I served as a fact checker for "Valvano: They Gave Me a Lifetime Contract, and Then They Declared Me Dead" (Pocket Books, 1991).

From 1980 to 1991, I worked for N.C. Citizens for Business and Industry of Raleigh (now the North Carolina Chamber of Durham) and served as associate editor and acting editor of North Carolina, a monthly business magazine that also covered economic development, government, education, and (sometimes) the arts.

From 1994 until 2019, I was the webmaster for the N.C. Industrial Commission (http://www.ic.nc.gov/). The NCIC adjudicates workers' compensation claims, as well as tort claims against the State Of North Carolina.

From 1980 until 2017, I served on the board of directors of The Cinema, Inc. (http://www.cinema-inc.org/), a Raleigh-based nonprofit film society formed in 1966.

Since December 2007, I have maintained a FREE list of FREE advance and virtual screenings of upcoming feature films. To subscribe to FFL FREE, e-mail robertm748@aol.com and type SUBSCRIBE-FFL in the Subject: line.

Please call me "Robert." A few family members and old friends still call me "Bob," but they are definitely not in my will!
