GARNER -- Nancy Jane Currie Penny was born in Fayetteville, Cumberland County to the late Neill Ishmael Currie and Margaret Christine Willamson Currie Rhodes. Nancy attended school at Broughton High School and later got her Degree in accounting from Wake Technical College. She retired in 2008 from Everett, Gaskins, Hancock and Stevens, Law Firm, where she was the Firm Administrator for 23 years. 

A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday at New Bethel Baptist Church, where she has been a member for 20 years. 

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Wilber Ray Penny, Sr.; son, Wilber Ray Penny, Jr. and his wife, Deborah Jones Penny of Angier; sisters, Ann Zerhusen and her husband, Jack of Cincinnati, Ohio, Debbie Currie Godwin of Garner; brothers, Neil Currie of Apex, Jerry Currie of New Orleans, LA, Mark Currie and his wife, Peggy of Angier, Danny Currie and his wife, Kathy of Clayton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John and Helen Kennedy, Brenda Currie, Cindy Currie and Candace Penny; numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was predeceased by brothers, Ronald Currie and Thomas Currie, sister-in-law, Sandra Currie and brother-in-law, Ernest Penny. 

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner.
