William C. (Cliff) Stuckey

Birth:  Jun. 20, 1948
Death:  Sep. 6, 2013

William Clifton (Cliff) Stuckey III, passed away at his home in
Whispering Pines, NC after a struggle with Progressive Supranuclear
Palsey on Friday, September 6, 2013.

Cliff was born on June 20, 1948, and was raised in Raleigh, NC as the
beloved son of William (Bill) Stuckey, Jr. and Celeste (Nelms)
Stuckey. He was a good brother to Bonnie (Stuckey) Van Hoy, Amy
Stuckey of Raleigh, NC, and Dee (Stuckey) Hall of Chapel Hill. He
graduated from Needham Broughton High School in 1966. He earned
a Master of Fine Arts degree in pottery and in painting from East
Carolina University. At ECU he met his wife, Cheryl (Little) Stuckey.
They were married in Mount Kisco, New York in 1976.
Cliff was a devoted and loving father to Skyla Brooke Stuckey
(1985), and Joshua Clayton Stuckey (1981). He engaged in their daily
lives, and through his service as a Scout Master for Pinehurst Troop 7,
and as a PTA president for Sandhills Farmlife School. As a way of
giving meaning to his life, he felt it was a priority to serve to others.
Cliff was an active member and President for the Pinehurst
International Lions Club.

He spent his entire teaching career at Sandhills Community College,
where he was recognized as a talented Professor, intellect, adviser,
and department chair. He encouraged many students to pursue
careers in art. Cliff was a gifted artist, and his work is collected and
displayed in many places. His home became a museum of masterful
artworks.

Instead of a formal wake and funeral, Cliff hopes you will take a
quiet walk through SCC gardens that inspired much of his art. In lieu
of flowers, memorial may be made to the Sandhills Community College.

All who knew him will carry his memory in their hearts.

Just saw this. You were a good one Cliff. Still remember dumping you on front porch one night and ringing door bell for your parents to find you. Fun times. Peace be with you.
