I am so sorry to see that Midge passed away. She and I were good friends in high school, but obviously I have not kept up with those friends since moving away from Raleigh in 1968. I used to date a guy from Virginia, and he brought down a friend once and asked me to get a date for his friend. That date was Midge. Unfortunately, the guy she dated also passed away young. And the picture for Midge does not do her justice - I remember her as always smiling and happy.

Midge and I were best friends in   high school and both attended colleges in Greensboro , so we saw each other still . She became a teacher and moved to Charlotte, and I visited  her there . It was very hard to lose a close friend at such a young age., so unexpectedly   .  Midge was a beautiful girl and had a great sense of humor. I am thankful for her friendship those years at Broughton!

I can't remember now how I met and knew Midge - probably through Lee (Fuller) Eanes who was also a good friend - but I will always be grateful that our paths crossed. Midge was my roommate the first year of college at UNC-G. She was a great roommate and had a wonderful (sometimes wicked) sense of humor and beautiful smile. Both of us refused to participate in Rat Day, which was an event where upperclassmen invaded freshman dorms and 'captured' freshmen who were forced to do their bidding for a day. We locked our dorm door until the pounding had passed. I always see Midge in my mind's eye sitting on her dorm bed in her nightgown, hair in rollers, surrounded by a pile of books. I will never forget how shocked I was at her death so soon after college graduation. Midge's parents were lovely people too, her father at one time the head of the NC Dept. of Revenue and her mother always welcoming at their home on Faircloth St.

Rowena, I didn't remember you and Midge being roommates ! That is a great story . I can picture her that way , too, so funny. So glad you wrote this note.  Yes her parents were great. Looking at the date she died , makes me remember she was just in her first year of teaching, I believe it was math ?She was smart also!
